Welcome to the Virtual Museum “Memorial Site – Kamenz-Herrental Concentration Camp Subcamp”!
Under the theme “Virtual Museum – Memorial Site Kamenz-Herrental Concentration Camp Subcamp”, we, the advanced history course (Grade 12) of the Gotthold Ephraim Lessing Grammar School, class of 2023, submitted a contribution to the state program “PEGASUS – Schools Adopt Monuments”. The project, initiated and funded by the Saxon State Ministry of Education, aims to draw public attention to monuments in our homeland.
With our virtual museum, we want to make the Kamenz-Herrental Memorial Site more accessible both to visitors of the city and for use in history lessons. A project by students of the advanced history course 2023 at Gotthold Ephraim Lessing Grammar School Kamenz.
As part of our project, we would like to thank:
- the City Archive of Kamenz, especially Mr. Binder, who was always available to support us,
- the Office for Monument Protection of the District of Bautzen, which made it possible for us to realize our project idea,
- the sponsoring association “Förderverein Gedenkstätte KZ-Außenlager Kamenz-Herrental e.V.”,
- Mr. René Krauß and Jakob Haase, who supported us in realizing our technical concepts.
